An angel appeared to shepherds and told them that a Saviour had been born to Mary and Joseph in a stable in Bethlehem. Three Wise Men from the East followed a star which led them to the baby Jesus to whom they paid respect and presented gifts.

P2: The British people celebrate Christmas on the 25,h of December. Christmas is the busiest time of the year at airports, train and bus stations. On Christmas Eve everything is in rush. Offices and public buildings close at one o'clock, but shops stay open late. Most big cities are decorated with coloured lights across the streets and Christmas trees. People like to decorate their houses outside and inside.

P6: Another important custom of Christmas is to send and receive Christmas cards, meant to help express the sentiment of the season. Some are religious in nature, others are more secular.

P7: Children believe that Santa Claus lives at the North Pole with his wife. All year round he lists the names of children both who have been good and those who have been bad.
