Навчальний рівень:

T: The topic of our lesson is “The Most Important Inventions”. What do you think we are going to do during the lesson?

P1: We’ll speak about famous inventors and their inventions.

P2: We’ll revise the words and word-combinations on the topic.

P3: We’ll revise the Passive Voice.

P4: I think we’ll do different activities, listen to some texts or read them.

T: You are right and I do hope we’ll have a very interesting lesson.

T: Listen to the poem and be ready to use the words and expressions from it.

If I become an inventor,

I’ll improve everything:

Telephone and radio set,

Tape recorder and TV set,

Sewing machine, refrigerator

It’s interesting to be an inventor.

(Technology “Microphone”)

T: Is it really interesting and useful to invent anything? Why?

P1: I think it’s really interesting but very difficult, because a person should spend a lot of time and energy and be very patient. Not everybody can do it. It can take months, even years.

P2: I agree with my peer. It’s very useful to invent something because it’s necessary for us and our everyday life. Mankind needs modern technologies and equipment that make our life more comfortable.

P3: I think we are very happy because thanks to the famous inventors we have a telephone, a telegraph, a car, a radio, a tape recorder, a computer, a video and many other things, which we use every day at home, at school, at work.

T: You are right. If there were no inventions, our life would be very boring, we would have a lot of problems and difficulties. What about you? Are you ambitious enough to invent anything useful? What it will be?

P1: I would like to invent the magic target. Thanks to it I’ll be able to visit different countries to learn about their traditions, to see the sights, to meet different people, to make new friends. I’ll take my friends and we’ll travel together all over the world.

P2: My dream is to invent a magic table cloth. When I put it on the table, I’ll have different delicious meals, I’ll never need to cook. I’ll save my money and time.

T: Your dreams are interesting and unusual. Why do you think it’s difficult to invent useful and important things?

P1: Because you need to be very intelligent, gifted, get good knowledge in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry have etc.

T: I have a problem. You should help me. My little son has mixed the letters of the words connected with our topic. Make up the words using these letters and then make up sentences with them.

Sample words:

P1: A mysterious message.

P2: Someone has sent me a mysterious message.

P3: To invent the Diesel engine.

P1: I’m OK. I see you are very busy. What are you doing with the telephone?

P2: Yes, I have. But it’s our family telephone. We need it. I have accidentally dropped it on the floor. Here is an awful result.

P1: I sympathise with you.

P2: Who invented this telephone for goodness sake?

P1: Oh, I know. The first telephone was invented in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell.

P2: What did he do?

P1: He was a famous American inventor. Bell was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1847. When he invented the first telephone he became a citizen of the United States of America in 1882. His telephone was very simple and it gave a push to useful things. Now our life is impossible without it – almost everybody has a mobile telephone.
